Mudroom Locker Furniture Ideas

When the word furniture comes to mind, and you are looking for new pieces, it usually also means that the rest of the room is finished. Maybe you have your lockers or cabinetry or shelving in place and are looking for a few pieces to accent the colour and design of the room. The pieces are out there, and potentially limitless. It all depends what you want, what you like, and what you are willing to spend. That brings up a couple avenues to think from, which brings up the next two points:

What is the Mudroom Locker Furniture’s Purpose

To me, furniture means something that is not fixed to the wall, something that can be moved when desired, and something that is added to the fixtures to accent them. In a kitchen, the furniture would be the bar stool pulled up to island not the island itself. That is the kind of thing I am talking about. Now a mudroom, by nature, is not that big, so if you are needing separate unattached furniture, then you must have a fair size room. Most people, I assume, if they are looking for mudroom furniture ideas they would likely be looking for seating. This would have to mean that there is already shelves and storage in there, and the best bet would still be a bench of some kind. I would have to say you would want it to seat at least two people and have some storage underneath. Whether it be for gloves, hats, sandals, whatever; it is better than it being on the floor. Padding if not necessary, but it looks nice. You will likely pay more for a piece with padding, but if you don’t need it, don’t get it…it’s not like you’ll be watching the game from there.

What other Mudroom locker Furniture Options are there?

If there are a ton of built-ins within your mudroom, then not a lot of mudroom furniture options are available. But, if the room will be using storage provided by loose pieces then there are certainly some options. There are many mudroom furniture ideas that consist of loose furniture and it might be wise to look in some antique shops. Even though you may not want to use antiques, they still may provide ideas. When antiques were not antiques, and were modern, they did not have built-in options like we have today so loose pieces like hall trees, cedar chests and trunks, benches, coat racks, and chests of drawers were needed to hold outer wear. Odd, you’d think with the global warming, we would need less storage?
The downfall to all these loose pieces, modern or antique, is that they do cause the illusion of clutter and disorder. They look messy, even though they are serving their purpose. Built-ins are the way to go, and there is a reason they exist, and antiques are antiques, built-ins keep stuff out of view, and give the illusion of cleanliness.
To finish, the only advice I can give is if you decide to use antiques, or loose furniture to decorate your mudroom, make sure they match. Nothing worse than college apartment motif to bring the value down…which leaves a big downfall with antiques, because most of the time when you refinish them, they are no longer antiques.
